Pexa to exhibit at Materials Testing 2017 with supply partners Sherwin Babbco & Spectronics Corporation

Established in 2002, Pexa Ltd are a supplier of materials to the NDT industry. They will be using Materials Testing 2017 to market their ranges of NDT materials from Sherwin Babbco (Socomore NDT) and Spectroline. These materials include dye penetrants, magnetic particle inspection materials, test panels, UV lights and meters, tools and consumables. The level of NDT expertise on stand A13 will be maximised as technical representatives from Pexa, Sherwin Babbco and Spectronics Corporation will be present.

September 2016 saw a development in Pexa’s NDT business with the expansion of their team. John Haslam was  appointed to provide technical support to customers in the North of the UK. He came from a background of liquid penetrant inspection, magnetic particle inspection and hardness and conductivity testing and brought with him an excellent working knowledge of the industry. Matt Lowthian was appointed NDT Business Manager to allow Pexa to provide a more thorough service to their NDT customers.

Pexa will be showcasing the Sherwin Babbco range of dye inspection penetrants, magnetic particle inspection fluids and ultrasonic consumables. They will be available to discuss their range of products mentioned above as well as training, installation, technical support and photographic/calibration services. These products are approved by governing agencies worldwide such as ASME & ASTM as well as prime aerospace contractors and OEMs. Visible penetrants are also widely used in the welding and nuclear power industries.

The dye penetrants from Sherwin Babbco are approved to all sensitivity levels of AMS 2644 for both water washable and post emulsified systems. These penetrants are designed to offer the best inspection methods at the correct sensitivity with reduced consumption and excellent value for money. They carry customer specific approvals such as Boeing, Airbus, Rolls-Royce and Pratt & Whitney. Products in the dye penetrant range include visible penetrants, fluorescent penetrants, cleaners, liquid and powder developers, biodegradable penetrants and emulsifiers.

Magnetic particle inspection products are used for non-surface breaking defects. These products are supplied in liquid and aerosol formats in red, black, fluorescent and dual colour formations and can be used in any light conditions. Novel solutions include non-flammable aerosols and easy removal background paint. Products in the magnetic particle range include magnetic powder concentrates, carrier fluids, fluorescents, background paints and cleaners.

Pexa are also the official distributor for Sherwin’s PSM5 tam panels in both polished and grit blasted finishes. These panels conform to the Pratt & Whitney 146060TAM specification. Other consumables include spray equipment, sizing gauges, test pieces, magnifiers and magnetic field meters.

In addition to the Sherwin Babbco range of NDT products, Pexa will also be using Materials Testing to showcase the Spectroline® range of UV lights and meters. Spectronics Corporation are the world leader in ultraviolet technology and their UV-A lights have been proven ideal for fluorescent inspection, detecting and identifying surface and subsurface flaws, as well as visual liquid penetrant and magnetic particle inspection applications. The Spectroline® range is a full line of high intensity LED inspection lamps which are designed to meet the growing demands of the non-destructive testing industry.

The Tritan® 365 is an example of a LED UV-A compliant lamp that will be showcased. It is a handheld lamp predominantly for fluorescent inspection in the aerospace industry and is certified to meet ASTM E3022 and Rolls Royce RRES 90061. The U-Vision® 365 Deluxe Series (pictured below) is also a LED UV-A compliant handheld lamp for the non-destructive testing industry. Launched in July 2017, it is cost effective, compact, fanless and cool running. It is also IP65 rated meaning that the unit can be fully covered in dust and suffer no intrusion. The rating also means that it is protected against jets of water from all directions.

Other products to be showcased from the Spectroline® range will include the Vivid® LED UV-A replacement bulbs, the Edge-13® overhead inspection lamp for penetrant spray stations (launching soon in a compliant and wash station model), AccuPRO® digital radiometers which give fast, accurate readings in the palm of your hands and the EagleEye® Deluxe. Pexa’s darkroom tent will be in the practical demo area so that you can see these lamps in operation.

Matt Lowthian from Pexa said: ‘We are really looking forward to showcasing our industry leading products at Materials Testing this year. Spectroline will be using the show to launch several new ASTM E 3022 compliant UV LED Lights, such as the EagleEye® Deluxe, and will join us on the Pexa stand for demonstrations and expertise.’

The exhibition promises to be bigger and better than ever this year with a new range of features and industry speakers. Pexa look forward to welcoming you on stand A13.
